Definition: is a valvular heart disease in which outflow of blood from the right ventricle of the heart is obstructed at the level of the pulmonic valve = reduced blood flow to lungs
Epidemiology: accounts for 80% of R-outflow tract obstruction
Clinical presentation: raised JVP, cyanosis, RVH, hepatomegaly, oedema, and if severe – sudden fainting / dizziness during exercise.
Investigations: echocardiography, peak pressure across the valve (>50 mmHg = intervention and replacement is warranted)
Treatment: balloon valvuloplasty or valve replacement
